Okay, Art Fans, I've survived three years...
...after being diagnosed with breast cancer. I won't find out if I'm in the clear for a few more weeks,
but I've been able to get back into the art world. And win a few awards. Life does go on.

I am very happy and very grateful to be here still. However, I am still coping with
the continuing ramifications of long-term and late effects of cancer treatment.
I have also discovered anew the fact that making art & entering juried shows takes a lot of energy.
Last year, 2010, found me struggling to crawl out of the ditch of
cancer related fatigue & being unable to make the kind of art that hangs in galleries.
Finally, this year, a little energy returns. And I have been invited to show my work in several venues,
and have so far won two awards for photography.
I'm back! Not quite in full flood, but making good art. Awards are the icing on the cake.

It has earned me some invitations to contribute my writing in other places, and helped me earn
a scholarship to attend this year's National Breast Cancer Coalition Advocacy Conference.
The NBCC's goal is to find a cure for this disease by 2020. I can live with that.
